TRAVEL FROM REYKJAVIK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KEFLAVIC) TO GRAND REYKJAVIK HOTEL

Jump aboard this Flybus transfer for quick and convenient transportation from Keflavik International Airport to your accommodation in Reykjavik. With this flexible pre-booked ticket, you can skip the lines and go directly to the bus.

https://guidetoiceland.is/book-holiday-trips/airport-express-door-to-door-kef-rvk

The Flybus shuttle will pick you up right outside the airport terminal and take you to the BSI bus terminal in Reykjavik, where you will then take a shuttle bus directly to your hotel, hostel, or guesthouse in the capital. This is by far the quickest, most efficient, and stress-free way to start your trip if you are not renting a car at the airport.

The bus can be found right outside the main terminal, and departure times are coordinated with flight times, so there will always be a bus leaving shortly after your arrival. The pickup point is clearly signposted in the arrivals hall.

The Flybus leaves approximately 30-45 minutes after each scheduled flight, even for flights that have been delayed. This means you don’t need to worry if your flight is arrive late. There will always be another bus ready to take you into the city.

From there, you will be dropped off directly at the bus stop closest to your hotel, hostel, or guesthouse by a separate hotel shuttle transfer. There are bus stops near the majority of accommodations in central Reykjavik, so you never need to worry about long walks.

Book now to ensure you start your holiday right with a quick and convenient airport transfer from Keflavik Airport straight to your accommodation in Reykjavik!

Price $44

WEATHER

The weather is highly unpredictable; it is common to experience "all seasons in one day," ranging from warm sunshine to cold, windy, and rainy conditions.

July is one of the warmest, driest, and sunniest months in Reykjavik, with average temperatures ranging from 50 to 55 degrees
Highs can reach 70-degrees but unpredictable rain and wind are common. Expect nearly 20 hours of daylight and the Midnight Sun. July is generally the driest month, but it is still quite wet, with an average of 52mm of precipitation. Rain can occur at any time, so waterproof gear is essential.

MONEY/ATM in ICELAND/NORWAY

1 USD to 122 ISK (approx on 1/23/26)

You do not need cash for Iceland as credit and debit cards, and mobile payments are widely accepted for nearly all purchases, even small ones. However, it's a good idea to carry a small amount of Icelandic Krona (ISK) for potential minor expenses or emergencies, such as donation boxes at natural sights or some campsite facilities.

Iceland is a largely cashless society where most businesses, restaurants, and shops, even small ones, accept card payments.

ATMs: The most cost-effective way to get some ISK is to withdraw it directly from an ATM. You can also exchange cash at local bank branches, though this is generally more expensive than using an ATM. While possible, exchanging money at the airport is typically the least favorable rate.

Mobile Payments: You can also use digital wallets like Apple Pay or Google Wallet to pay by phone.

Major Cards Accepted: Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted, though Amex and Diners Club may not be as common.

TELEPHONES

Having a working cell phone internationally is very helpful. We often use a cell phone as a "walkie-talkie" when traveling members roam separately. The options are "burn phones," SIMS, Internet, and Verizon/AT&T/Visible international plans. They usually work while on land, but not so much when on the ship. Avoid using them on planes.

Verizon, AT&T, and Visible International plans, as well as internet, are the simplest and least expensive options for our two-week trip. The international plans only charge $12/day (as your phone uses domestic, voice, text, and mostly data) when used daily

Before departure, set up your carrier's international plan. When you arrive in Spain and Portugal, your carrier will recognize your location and text you about the connection.

VISIBLE GLOBAL PASS

For $12/day, you can use your domestic plan's talk, text, and data allowances like at home. You're only charged for the days you use your phone. Learn more by visiting our TravelPass FAQs.

If you don't choose an international plan, you'll pay per minute, per text, and per MB of data used (called Pay as You Go) when you're abroad. Learn more on our International Travel page.

INTERNET CELL PHONES

Internet connections can be FREE when in a hotel or on a ship with WiFi. At some airports, you can find low-cost or free WiFi (it's best to use a VPN on public WiFi).

When calling between two cell phones on iOS, use FACETIME.

When accessing between Androids and Apple, use WhatsAPP. Set up the app before departure.

POWER

Iceland uses the TYPE F plug and 230 VAC with 50 Hz.

Should you need an adapter, they are available for sale in the onboard shop or can be found at most electronics or travel stores. (Remember that if you are staying in a hotel for part of your journey, you will want the appropriate adapter for that country as well.)

Most modern electronic devices can accommodate different electrical currents, so you probably will not need a current converter; hair dryers are provided in your stateroom. Please note that heat-producing appliances, such as irons, steamers and heaters, are potential safety hazards and therefore not permitted on board. Consult the full list of prohibited items.

us (type b) plug and 110v/115v socket
US (Type B) plug and 110V/115V socket . The 110V outlets on board accommodate the US Type B electrical plug, which has two flat parallel pins and a round grounding pin, as well as the US Type A ungrounded electrical plugs (or flat blade attachment plugs) with two flat parallel pins only.

europlug (type c)
Europlug (Type C) . Outlets on board use the Type C electrical plug (or Europlug), a two-wire plug that has two round 4-mm pins. If you are purchasing adapters, please note this is not the same as the 4.8-mm two-prong adapter (Schuko), whose pins are thicker and longer.

usb-a port
USB-A port . The USB-A ports on board may be used to charge cell phones and tablets; just bring the appropriate cable with you.
