Our trip included three days in Reykjavik and 15 days touring on the Viking Neptune, starting in Reykjavik, Iceland, and ending in Bergen, Norway.
My trip traveled from Nashville to Detroit with a 5-hour layover. It was a 5hr & 41min fly Keflavik, arriving at 7:40 AM. I picked up the Flybus to my hotel at the Grand Hotel Reykjavik.

While in Reykjavik, we hired a private guide to show us the Golden Circle on our first day (July 16) and joined a local guide to walk us and tell us about the city on our second day (July 17). On our third day we were ready to join Viking's Iceland and Arctic Circle Explorer.

Our ocean-view stateroom was 270 sq ft and included a private veranda. It had a floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door opening to the full-size veranda.
One each port Viking provided an included excursion. Most were a panoramic exploration bus tour. For the more adventuresome, they can purchase more in-depth exploration on ATVs, kayaks, hikes, and e-bike rides.
Everyone in our group had cruised primarily only on a Regent ship. The Viking ship was going to be noticeably different. Here is my story about the two types of cruising.
Regent is a luxury hotel that moves between destinations. Viking is
better described as a comfortable exploration ship with many luxury features.
Viking provided daily enrichment lectures that described the culture and history of Iceland and Norway.
The ship had plenty of excellent food with a general restaurant, two buffets, two grills, and two specialty restaurants. Complimentary beer and wine were served at lunch and dinner. Three bars were available throughout the day for extra thirsty guests.
